Cinema4D for students

If you are a student, then you are eligible for a low-cost copy of Cinema4D. Remember, you do not have your own personal copy, as this has gotten very expensive, you'll always find the software in our labs. To get it, head over to the Educational Licensing page. The procedure goes at follows:

  1. You register with a service called “Kivuto” who will check your eligibility and provide you with a Promo-Code. You have to pay a small fee (currently 73,80 Euro for one year).
  2. You then register with Maxon to “buy” your Cinema4D version and by entering the Promo-Code, the price drops to zero.
  3. You download and install the software.
  4. The license is valid for six months.

Please note, that you do not need a “gaming machine” for this software, but a rather newer computer. If you have an older and slower machine, consider downloading an older version (if available) of Cinema4D. If this still does not work, we can provide remote access to our machines at the CoDArchLab. For this you only need a good internet connection.

1. Kivuto

From the page mentioned before, you can click on the Kivuto link. Register with your university address and buy a “Maxon One (6-Month Subscription - Promo Code)”. Currently, the service fee for getting the Promo Code is nearly 3 Euro. When done, you should get an email as a confirmation. On the OnTheHub eStore (Kivuto) website, you can have a look inside your profile, where you find your order history. Click on Details and there you will find the Promo Code. A little bit further down, you can open up the instructions (Anweisungen) and find a direct link to the Maxon Store.

2. Maxon

In the new page you already see the product in your cart. If you do not have already an account, you should register first, because whatever you buy here will be connected to your Maxon account. It'll cost you around 650 Euro. Down on the left, you can enter your Promo Code and the price drops to Zero! Complete the process. You should now get information where to download the Cinema4D installer.

3. Installation

When installing, make sure you install everything with the package. You can also choose between different languages, but the course will be in English, so it makes sense to install the software in English as well. After installation, the License Manager should open and ask you to login in with your Maxon credentials. You should now be able to connect your Cinema4D license here and use the software for free!
